Prosthodontics

Prosthodontics, also known as prosthetic dentistry, is the specialty of dentistry dealing with the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and maintenance of oral function. It is concerned with clinical conditions that involve missing teeth and compromised jaw and bone tissue. It also aims to improve comfort, appearance and overall dental health of patients. Prosthodontics offers the most advanced form of restorative treatment and maintenance.

At Dr. Happy Smiles, our prosthodontists work closely with their patients to develop comprehensive treatment plans and to help patients understand what improvements are possible. They provide multiple levels of care. They repair failed treatments that may be affecting your mouth and your smile, they treat abnormalities of the jaw and they provide advanced dental care for complex anatomical features of the teeth, gums and supporting bone structure. Our prosthodontists use state-of-the-art procedures to conduct personalized restorative treatment plans.

Removable Complete Dentures

These are teeth replacements designed for people who have lost all of their teeth, due to trauma or poor hygiene. Removable dentures give them better chewing ability along with a more appealing appearance.

It may take a while to adapt to removable dentures. And it may be necessary to visit your prosthodontist for the adjustment of dentures from time to time. Although dentures have their disadvantages, most people prefer dentures over being toothless.

Removable Partial Dentures

These are designed for people who have lost some teeth, but not all. People generally prefer fixed partial dentures over removable partial dentures, though some partially-edentulous people do not qualify for fixed partial dentures because they don’t have the supporting tissues to which fixed dentures attach.

Fixed Partial Dentures – Bridges

These are also designed for people who have lost some teeth. Fixed partial dentures are commonly known as dental bridges and are usually more expensive than removable partial dentures. However, they give the most natural results. The cost of fixed partial dentures varies, depending on the number of teeth to be replaced and the materials used.
